Archives for Month: July 2016

Remember that time two months ago when I was ill?

Here we go again.

I went to San Diego for a work trip last week, where we had conferences for two days straight. I was only there for about three whole days, but dealing with the jet lag as well as keeping up with the conferences was a little too much for me to handle, and now I’m not feeling very good at all.

Finally, a post about Florence! Our trip to Florence was only for three nights, and it was three weeks ago, but I still wanted to write about it, of course. There aren’t photos of absolutely everything I’ve described, but I picked out some nice ones. We did visit a lot of museums in Florence, some more interesting than others, but at least we can say we’ve done them all.

I also bought a pair of brogues in Florence, which still have to make their way into a Fashion Friday outfit some time soon. I feel like they are the last shoes I will ever need.

And so, Florence: the city I feel needed just a little more time to fully appreciate.

I am heading to San Diego in the morning for a work trip, that I’m not completely looking forward to because of the long flights. As I’ve been busy, this is just a quick post on what’s been happening in my life lately.

First up, though: I’m doing a Fashion Friday Q&A post this Friday. This is your chance to ask me about anything fashion or beauty related. Ask me about my inspiration, my style, what my style used to be, tips, advice, anything. 🙂 You can just leave a comment on this post and I’ll be sure to answer it.

Getting my nails done at work? Yes. Trying not to take twenty minutes picking out an outfit in the morning? Sure. Going back to the gym? Not just yet. More posts about our trip to Europe will be coming shortly, too. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on what has been happening in my life lately.

I apologise for pushing this A Day in the Life post back, but I just got caught up trying to settle back in after our trip.

This weekend we went out for dinner with Nick’s family to celebrate our engagement. Today Nick decided to see the doctor as he hasn’t been feeling great since the end of our trip, just a few tests and we’ll find out what’s up.

Not an eventful day, but sometimes we have days in our lives that aren’t interesting to write about. Remember, A Day in the Life is not a pity party – we all have dull days and one of the best things to do after an ‘unsuccessful’ day is to reflect on it. So this month I have decided to ask a few questions related to mindfulness and clearing your mind. Feel free to join in the linkup by adding your link at the bottom of the post.

I wanted to do a Fashion Friday in Singapore, so we did a quick shoot in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. I can’t believe it was only a week ago. It feels like it has been a while. The gardens are big, and some areas require a small fee to enter. We only really browsed the Orchid Garden, as Singapore is famous for its orchids.

These photos don’t really have orchids in them, but you can see how lovely the gardens are.

I won’t bore you all: Venice was probably my least favourite part of our trip. I found it really underwhelming, not very impressive, and run down with tourists. It was quieter in some streets but also smelly in some places. It was hard to find good food. I had a very disappointing and tasteless alio olio – you’d think it would be hard to mess up an oil-based (instead of sauce based) pasta! But I still got a select few nice photos of the city, and I am very sure it would be more enjoyable in a cooler season, so take my experience with a grain of salt.

Yesterday we returned home from our trip to Europe and Singapore. Our plane landed early in the morning and we went to Nick’s house to have a nap and catch up with his family before catching up with my family. Though I was dreading having a lot to catch up on, I went back to work today with no real troubles. Everyone at work was excited to see me back and congratulate me on the engagement. 🙃

This Achievement Unlocked is a little late because I had lots of posts written about our trip and sort of forgot! So here is my recap of June, which mainly refers to our trip because we were away for almost the whole month.

By golly does it feel good to be in Singapore eating Asian food right now. Please don’t take any offence, but my body is not used to eating so much pasta and it really filled me up during our trip! It was amazingly delicious, though, and some meals were better than others. We had a lot of three-course lunches and dinners, and way too much carbohydrate to process, so now it is relieving to be having cuisine I am a little more used to.

I wanted to recount our trip to Italy in one post, but I have decided to split it up. I am posting this detailed post about Varenna about two weeks since we were there, but even so, I would love to answer any questions you have about the places I visited. 🙂

Read on to see more photos and read about our adventures!
