Disclaimer, Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 25th January 2018

My website (Hey Georgie) and its content is owned by Georgina Cooke (née Luhur) (“I”, “me”, “myself”). The term “you” refers to any users, visitors or viewers of my website.

By accessing or using this website you agree to be bound by my terms & conditions and any of my policies. If you disagree with any part of my terms & conditions or any of my policies then you should stop accessing my website.

My website is primarily a blog that represents my personal opinions and experiences. It does not represent the views of my employer or any other person, with the exception of individual posts or individual written interviews written by guest authors or conducted with a guest.

Apart from my professional experience as a web developer/software engineer, and wide knowledge and experience as a ballerina, dancer, concert photographer, traveller, and fitness enthusiast, I am not a professional or an expert in the topics I write about. I cannot guarantee that any information I share will produce the same result for you as it did for myself, so it is in your best interests to contact a professional for further advice or information.

All content is up to date at the time of writing and I make no guarantees that the content is current at the time you are viewing it.

I enjoy receiving comments and emails from people who read my blog, and I welcome feedback. While I aim to respond to these communications when I have something to say, I am under no obligation to respond.

TL;DR: I’m not an expert in everything and my blog is not gospel

Comment Policy

As mentioned above, comment forms on my blog posts collect some degree of personal information. Although a name is required you are permitted to use an appropriate alias in place of your real name. A valid email address is required to prevent spam. Your email address may be used for automatic notification replies when your comment receives a reply from myself or another individual who submits a comment. It will not be used for other unsolicited communication.

The fact that comments are open on many posts means that I encourage them and am willing to accept any opinions (including opinions in disagreement), and I often partake in discussion. However, I have zero tolerance for any comment that is malicious, abusive, inappropriate, offensive, defamatory to any individual or group, or incites harassment. I also do not allow text or links in the name or comment fields that is promotional or self-promotional. I reserve the right to edit or remove any comment that I deem to violate my comment policy, and will take further action as necessary (see Termination).

At the time of writing, all comments are currently moderated, and will require my personal approval before being published on my website.

By submitting a comment on my website you acknowledge that you are the author of such comment. By approving your comment, I am allowing your comment to be publicly displayed on my website, therefore you grant me permission to share, display, republish, and/or reproduce your comment in any of my future works, including, but not limited to:

  1. a blog post,
  2. a book,
  3. a presentation,
  4. a social media post,

and your name will be used to indicate the original author.

I am not liable for any damage, loss, or injury that occurs as a result of you submitting a comment on my website, as you acknowledge you are the author of any comments you submit.

TL;DR: I am allowed to share your comment elsewhere; opinions are good, but don’t be a dick in the comments

I may terminate or suspend your access to my website immediately, without prior notice or liability, under my sole discretion, for any reason whatsoever and without limitation; including, but not limited to, a breach of my terms & conditions and other policies. If you make any attempt to contact me beyond your termination or suspension of access, I am under no obligation to reply.

All provisions of my terms & conditions which, by their nature, should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.

TL;DR: I can stop you visiting my website at any time

Governing Law

My terms & conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

My failure to enforce any right or provision of my terms & conditions will not be considered a waiver of those rights. If any provision of my terms & conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of my terms & conditions will remain in effect. My terms & conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and I regarding my website, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding my website.

I reserve the right to modify or replace my terms & conditions and any of my policies at any time. If a revision is material, I will try to provide at least thirty (30) days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at my sole discretion.
