Archives for Month: March 2013

I know some people have voted for me already, and I thank you so, so much, but if you haven’t yet, I’d appreciate it if you could spare a couple minutes and vote for my blog in the People’s Choice Round of the Best Australian Blogs 2013.

On Thursday night — last day of work this week because of the Easter break — I went with Dylan to see The Griswolds (okay, I really should […]

I entered the Best Australian Blogs 2013 Competition earlier this month, and I entered the People’s Choice Round as well. You can vote for my blog now, and voting ends on the 30th April. My blog is on the second page and is listed as “Hey Georgie”. It would mean so much to me if you voted for me. ♥️

I’ve been running this week! That means waking up at 6am so I […]

I feel like this week has gone by really fast, but at the same time really slowly. Sometimes I can’t tell. These days I feel like it’s a struggle to get through the entire week, and I just look forward to the weekend every time. I still love my job, but I have just been getting very tired lately. I’ve been on about it for a few months already, and it’s just that I think […]

We’ve heard his music before – his first three albums, forming his suburban trilogy – were so intricate, lyrically wonderful, and overall a joy to listen to. Under the name Bob Evans, musician Kevin Mitchell wowed audiences with his songwriting skills and intimate acoustic performances. His latest release, Familiar Stranger, is an album that follows on from The Double Life EP, released just a couple of months ago.

I preordered the album late last week […]

I just spent what was probably the worst one-and-a-half hours of this month re-doing my homework, because I lost it. No, not like that. More like: our university needs a system that autosaves or has some kind of way of making sure stuff doesn’t get lost like that – and should generally just be crash-free. Of course, technology can be pretty horrible, and there’s no way of really knowing when it’ll go down on us […]

Yeah, alright, so I clearly prefer Cub Scouts to Millions – but both bands are terrific. This afternoon I went to an all-ages gig at the Metro Lair to see these two lovely Brisbane bands, the former known for their catchy melodic pop pieces and the latter known for their tunes inspired by garage rock. They were supported by Sydney rock band Pear Shape, who are just as cute as their name!

Having […]

More often than not, I’ve said to myself, “I want to write.” That writing could be anything, from writing a letter to a friend, to writing a blog post. Sometimes it’s just a very long text message. Sometimes it’s a short email. Sometimes it’s a one-page poem. Sometimes it’s as short as a tweet. This post isn’t about how much I love writing, nor is it about how prevalent writing is in my life. It’s […]

I have been feeling very tired lately, and every time I do, I feel like I’ve been totally betrayed by my body. Hey you, you didn’t give me enough sleep. This is all your fault. You should have known that I needed more sleep. You didn’t make me get it. And in each instance, I never think of blaming my alarm, bad public transport, early classes, work, or anything else. It’s always you, you, Body. […]

I went to see Bullet For My Valentine last Wednesday. It’s been a while (a very, very long while) since I’ve seen a metal band live. I have almost missed the — energy, as Dylan calls it. It’s why he loves metal music and seeing metal music live. We had an issue with him entering the venue because he had forgotten his photo ID. Despite having his blood donor card (with his date of birth […]
