Archives for Month: January 2013

Last Friday I went to see world-famous author Neil Gaiman with my good friend Seb. I’ve never been to an author talk before, and if it weren’t for Seb telling me about the event, I would well have missed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Neil Gaiman is author of best-selling children’s book Coraline, comic book series The Sandman, and novels Stardust and American Gods. The event, titled ‘An Evening with Neil Gaiman’, was held at the […]

I’ve been off antidepressants for almost a week. The withdrawal symptoms are stupid. Of course, I saw this coming, because I already reduced my dose a couple of months ago, and soon it was going to be time. In Sydney, the weather hit a record temperature of 45.7°C, which is 114.3°F. It’s pretty unbelievable. This morning I woke up knowing it would be in the high 30s, so I knew it was hands-down not a jeans day. I was running late for work already so I just threw on a skirt and a top, and walked out the door in not-sneakers. I didn’t care what shoes I was wearing, as long as it […]

An irresponsible man maimed our car today. Congratulations mate, you’ve caused a complete inconvenience in our entire family. My brother has to wake up even earlier on school holidays to make his way to tutoring. My mum has to completely rethink her schedule this week because we don’t have a car. On days she finishes late, to avoid spending bucketloads of cash on a taxi, she has to wait for forty minutes in the dark […]

A week of work has come and gone, and I only slept in (slash was late) once this week. That’s mega, compared to last year. Then again, classes haven’t started and I’ve only been to one gig (and counting) this year… so we’ll see. Not making any new year’s resolutions was the best thing I did for myself for new year. Work has been very productive, with Cal and I staying off Twitter and instant […]

This is a slightly long overdue post but it’s still the first week of the new year! I hope you had a terrific new year no matter how you spent it, and that 2013 brings you lots of smiles and love. I’m titling this post “Hello [year]” as I did with my other posts; it’s sadly not on the first of January as it was for the past three years, but we all get a […]
