My Saving Grace
Happy Chanukah to my Jewish friends. :D Just thought I’d get that out there. Rachel, one of my best buddies online, celebrates Chanukah and we’ve just both been excited about it. ♥️ I’m not Jewish but I find it really interesting.
That said though, a few months ago I was feeling a bit far from God. I’m a Catholic, but I hope it makes sense when I say that I’m not really “into” my religion.
I find other people’s religions interesting, and whatever religion someone follows, I respect their decisions and their beliefs. It’s their choice.
Over a year ago when I was still in high school, my classmate started this popular forum that all the students in our grade joined. I liked posting there, until someone decided to start a topic on religion, and opinions of it.
Being a part of it, I voiced my sincere opinion – that I respected others for their decision in whatever religion they chose, and to sum it all up, albeit not very well, I said that learning about religion whether you’re a part of it or not, should not restrict, but rather, broaden your horizons.
I’m sure some people would disagree. But my point was not to start a debate.
Soon this whole thing blew up into a load of shit, and people just continued to disagree with me on that forum, people were telling other people they were ‘wrong’, telling them to ‘prove’ that Jesus/God was real – it’s unreasonable. This is what people believe in. Personally, I don’t think people should tell others that what they believe in is “wrong”.
We all know religion is a bit of a touchy topic – although I find that most people online seem to be quite accepting of opinions and beliefs of others. (Mm… most.)
But I don’t want to discuss proving religions and whatnot. It’s not what I intended here. I try to respect people’s opinions on the topic but when you’re telling people bad things about something they strongly believe in, it can be offensive.
Since realising how I thought about it, I have been curious about other religions. I considered changing, but most of all I realised that it was interesting to hear a bit about others. Jediism for the geeks, anyone? :)
That sounds more like my thing. The Jedi Code states that “Jedi respect all life, in any form”. I guess that’s something I need to work on. It’s hard to respect some people, such as those annoying people on public transport, when they can be disrespectful.
Speaking of respecting… I haven’t been on good terms with my mum lately. I feel terrible because now she’s ill. She’s been having migraines and coming back from work and just dropping dead on the couch. I’ve been tending to her feeling sick. We got into a few arguments. Ugh.
I have my ballet exam tomorrow. I thought I wouldn’t be nervous, but I’m sort of shaking from it. It will be my last proper ballet exam ever. After this I am allowed to teach, but I have to have supervision – a qualified teacher in the room.
After this I will be very relieved. 😰 I’ll have to work on teaching to get my full teacher’s certificate but I’ll have to see how to fit it with university next year.
Random note! I’ve added that review on ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’ and a tutorial – converting Bellabuffs to Enthusiast.
My university results come out on the 16th of December. I’m quite nervous about it. I know I passed but I want to know what grades I get. /bounce
