Achievement Unlocked: March 2018

Achievement Unlocked: March 2018

Just before writing this, I was:

Contemplating buying a program for a full body shred by Rachel Dillon (she is a WBFF pro). I’ve been contemplating buying one of her programs but I’m on the fence about it because I do love doing my own workouts, am constantly learning stuff as I go, making steady progress, and am not completely sure whether I really need the program or not.

This past month, I achieved:

I was on a roll with our honeymoon posts! Check out #thecookeshoneymoon on my blog for the latest posts. 🙂 I’ve got a few more to go, and I’m keen to get them done this week! 😉

This month, the meetup I organise, codebar, was a success! I was holding up the fort since the other organisers had other commitments, but glad some of my friends came along for support. We had a great turnout, too! The next event is tomorrow, and we’re hoping to have more people attending this time. We were struggling to find a venue for the month of April but after contacting many people, I was able to secure one. I’m excited.

I photographed another concert this month, The Smith Street Band. Please check out my photos! It was challenging because the stage was really high, but both the band and the support acts that night were fantastic. I didn’t stay around for the whole show but it was great. And I’m happy with my photos!

This past month, I learned:

I keep coming up with life lessons whenever I answer this prompt that I thought of myself all those months and months ago. So much so, that I forgot that I could actually answer this with something more concrete – like the fact that I started building my own React app in March. I want to document and write about my progress so I will share more about it soon. Just know it’s nothing super fancy, it’s just tailored to my interests and I am so glad that I found something I could build on the side that didn’t feel like I was trying to work on someone else’s goals.

This past month, I got bored of:

The Prana ON white chocolate flavoured protein powder that I was almost done with. It was just too sickly sweet and I dislike the taste of white chocolate anyway. I’ve finished the packet and I’ve bought a new packet of my favourite flavour: vanilla bean and maple.

But that’s OK, because I enjoyed:

Perusing the new range of socks by Happy Socks – it’s called Hysteria and these are just what I was looking for in terms of funky socks for women. They are a lot more classy than the typical patterned ankle socks I have been wearing. That’s not to say that the ankle socks are not great, but these are ones I can dress up with style.

Today, something that made me happy was:

Since 2016 I have found myself enjoying skipping rope as a form of cardio. I haven’t tried it very often, just on-and-off. But I’ve been trying to beat my record recently. When I started out, 64 skips in a row was my record. Today I did a whopping 343 in a row. Yes, it felt good to drop to the floor afterwards and oxygenate myself again. 💦

Today, something I could have done better was:

Probably not eaten that much chocolate! But I can’t really think of anything else that I really could have done better… I allow myself to have a treat! I guess I could say I wish I was more productive this afternoon, but it’s been a long weekend for Easter and I think it was a well-earned break. So I can’t beat myself up for chilling out.

Tomorrow, I’m going to:

Go back to work! Hopefully it’s a good, short, week. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to the gym tomorrow morning or going to take a rest day, but I’ll see how I feel in the morning.

In April, I’m looking forward to:

Some shows – Nick and I are going to see two comedians this month. Ross Noble, and James Veitch. I am super excited, especially for Ross Noble. We’ve seen him twice and he’s absolutely hilarious. 😂

In April, I’m going to make the positive change of:

I will be catching up on all the unread blog posts in my feed reader, and responding to any comments on my blog that need responding to. 🙏🏼 I’ve been out of the loop for far too long. About a month ago I had 800 unread posts in my feed reader and I’ve spent a lot of March simply catching up. It’s driving me a little mad. 🤪 I have about 190 blog posts to catch up on. I actually hope to finish that some time this week.

One thing on my to-do list is:

Finish off those honeymoon blog posts. Which I am absolutely going to try finishing this week.

One happy photo from this past month is:

I did my nails a little over a week ago. Unfortunately they did not last very long, but I was really pleased with the outcome. I used nail wraps from Scratch, along with my own nail polish. I used nail glue and some charms that came with a previous Scratch kit. It took a bit of patience but it lasted about a week, which was OK. I just like how it looked. 🙂

If I had to write a book or record a film about this past month, I would call it:

J-j-japan, rewind!

After I post this, I’m going to:

Pack my bag for tomorrow and pick out an outfit. Back to work tomorrow. 👗

Did you do anything exciting in March? What have you got to look forward to in April? If you can’t think of anything, maybe it’s another month closer to another event in the year? 🎊

I think if you feel you don’t need the program, just do what you’ve been doing. Sounds like it works for you. =3 But overall seems like its been a good month for you!

Woo, I am glad to hear that codebar went really well. I hope you are having another great day today. :D It’s good that you were able to sort out the venue. :)

The photos are brilliant. :D

Whoa. 343 in a row that is impressive! :D

I am looking forward to a mini holiday in August! :D

The biggest event was that I voted: I voted in the mid elections in Texas and I’m proud of doing that, so much so.
Though I don’t remember at the top of my head how March went, it was busy and I was certainly glad for it.
I definitely will check out you and your husband’s honeymoon adventures!

March wasn’t too exciting and I’m not sure about April yet. I’m more of a live-in-the-now type, so we’ll just have to see. ;) I am looking forward to the Spring and Summer, warmer weather, a concert in July, and one of my friends weddings in August (late Summer).

Your nails are adorable. I wouldn’t have the patience to try those nail wraps. I try to keep mine painted as a way to prevent me from biting, but they don’t quite work well for my job, since I use my hands too much and they chip easily.

I’d say I live in the moment too, I don’t like making plans too ahead of time.

The nail wraps are actually really easy to apply, I’m incredibly impatient and they’re a thousand times better than painting. 5-10 minutes, done. 😉

Awesome list – James Veitch is hilarious and I would love to see him live! Can you do a review or describe his show when you see it?! Have lots of fun at the shows.

Finishing off your honeymoon posts I’m sure was such a satisfying thing to do. I remember my London trip posts taking ages to get on with and I was so happy when they were all written. Sometimes it’s nice not to have a huge backlog of planned stuff so you can write whatever you want.

As you can probably tell, I’m catching up on my blogging backlog. I don’t have quite as many as 800 posts though – more like one hundred, but it’s still going to be a while. Can’t wait to be all caught up!

Your nails look fantastic! I’ve never actually tried nail wraps before. I’m still at the stage where I struggle to paint my right hand, but I rarely paint my nails so that’s probably why!
