2 minutes and 40 seconds with Tara (aigoo-chamna.net)
Today I interview someone who I have known for a few years, who I think has a variety of interests including cooking, gaming and music – Tara!
I am a Korean-American adoptee who grew up in her country of birth, but lived in a US military environment in the middle of a huge metropolitan city, so I got to experience the Korean lifestyle, the American lifestyle, and the US military lifestyle. Because of this diverse environment, I also have a lot of different hobbies and interests. I love to read books and comic books/mangas, watch films/animes, play video games on both handheld and consoles, bake and cook dishes that doesn’t require too much chopping, and so on! I’m also a self-declared Japanophile and Anglophile despite being Korean-American, and I am further convinced I was reincarnated from either a Japanese or a British person!
If you had to invent an animal, what would it be?
I’d like to invent a luck dragon like Falkor from The Neverending Story. It’d be cool to have a nice talking dragon who will also transport you wherever you want to go!
How many cupcakes should a person eat before they turn into one?
However many they want to eat! But for me, I’d say it’d be about two. I think that’s all I can stand.
Complete this sentence: you can only ____ so _____ before you _____.
You can only spend so much so save before you spend.
What is your favourite item of clothing?
Socks! I love socks! I even sleep with them. I like having my feet covered.
You wish the movie _____ never existed.
Lost in Translation is seriously one of the worst films I’ve ever watched.
What is on your wishlist at the moment?
To finish my “crapstone” project for my MA degree!
What’s your cooking specialty?
I can bake a mean butterscotch rum pound cake and make spiced nuts! Those are my two best things to make :D
Apples or oranges?
Oranges because I’m allergic to raw apples :(
Noodles or rice?
Depending on my mood, but I generally prefer rice since fried rice is one of my favourite things to eat!
Someone sets one of your favourite books on fire. What do you do with that person?
I’d set them on fire. Guess I support the whole “an eye for an eye” thing.
You can take two of these on a road trip (it will take a few hours and you are not driving). The latest issue of Cosmopolitan; a bag of jelly beans; a newspaper in a language you don’t know how to read; an old iPod Classic and earphones (you have no idea what music is on it); a ball of yarn in a colour you hate, and knitting needles. What do you choose?
I’ll take a bag of jelly beans (so I can I have something to munch on) and the latest issue of Cosmo (though I normally would never read it, but I’d rather read that than have a newspaper I can’t read, knit in a colour I can’t stand, or have an Apple product near me!).
How do you like your eggs?
Over hard, please! I like my yolk cooked.
How spicy do you like your food?
In the middle. I can do spicy, but I cannot do very spicy or I’ll be guzzling down water or something to cool off my mouth!
What was the last comic you read?
The Fox Sister, a comic that’s set in Korea, and one of the creators is a childhood friend!
What country would you most like to visit right now?
Japan or United Kingdom. I’m a Japanophile and an Anglophile. In Japan, I’d go straight to Otome Road to stock up on my BL/Yaoi goodies. In UK, I’ll be thrilled to see the Buckingham Palace guards in real life, and then I’ll be happy sitting in a pub listening to all the accents around me.
What is something you have not yet experienced and would like to?
I want to hear Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7”, Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2”, or Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto” in a live concert hall. The classical music fan in me wants to hear them live at least once!
If you were a graffiti artist, what would your tag look like, or what icon would you plaster your town with?
I’d like to plaster the towns with books (like quotes from books I like) or musical notations!
What comes to mind when I say “all blinged up”?
Shiny and over-accessorised to the point of looking very tacky.
Running or swimming?
Neither. Walking, please!
If you could change the colour of the sun, what colour would you make it?
Blue. Blue’s my favourite colour!
