April Fool’s Failure

Ha OK. So I have been managing to wake up at 5:30am every day this week, and arrive at work at about 8am. I’m not sure how long I can keep this up for, but that’s a story for another day. I also need a haircut. That is also a story for another day.

On April Fool’s Day I arrived at work at approximately 7:59am, completely oblivious to the fact that it was April Fool’s Day. Since I haven’t been very active on social media, I totally was not picking up all the Pokemon references that people were posting about on Twitter. So of course when Emi walked in about an hour after I had started working, and he told me they needed someone to build the April Fool’s feature on our website, he reminded me, “Yeah, it’s today”.

Naturally I realised no one had played a prank on me so I suggested we do something to everyone in our design/development team before they got in at 9am.

It was a quick idea, combining two brains working before 9 o’clock, but I came up with the idea of rotating their monitors around the wrong way, then Emi stuck post-it notes saying “April Fools!” on the correct side of the screen.

It was hard not to laugh once we sat down and pretended we knew nothing about the situation. The reactions were funny to hear, but as Emi pointed out, “At least we didn’t disconnect them and put them downstairs”. Very valid point.

I went downstairs to get some tea from the kitchen just as some of the others were coming in. When I walked back up, I realised my phone had disappeared. It wasn’t on the desk where I had left it, and it was oddly the only thing missing from my desk. I immediately thought that maybe someone else had played a prank back on me. Probably Ed, but I didn’t want to be wrong, so I said nothing and borrowed Emi’s phone to call mine. I heard my phone vibrating but I had no idea where it was coming from. When I called again, the vibrating refused to continue.

Strange. When our other team member, James, walked in, he was puzzled as to why his monitors were the wrong way around. I suggested looking on the screens where the post-it note was. The issue with my phone came up, and that maybe someone picked it up by accident. I looked through my bag but it was not there.

James asked Ed, at which point I said, “Okay I am sorry I turned your monitors around but can you please give my phone back?”
“Oh it was you! But I don’t have your phone.”

After walking around for a bit we discovered the phone under my chair.

“I think you just played a prank on yourself,” James said. They all laughed at my failure and said they wouldn’t let me forget that one.

I seem to have major issues with looking for something only to have it right in my face, or to be embarrassed from “not looking properly”. Oops.

OOH, I, too, am guilty of things like that! 👏 /bash

I do it with my phone and water bottles a lot. :x

I don’t really have this problem. The only time I ever did was when I misplaced my phone on the couch. In the end, it was just covered with papers. I’ve never lost, got my phone stolen or anything. Always been extremely careful with it.

Hahahaha, April Fool’s!

Your phone probably fell when you were calling it, which is why you didn’t hear it after awhile? Then again, a thud would be pretty loud. I didn’t have any pranks pulled on me/vice versa. I just watched as everyone else was pranking each other. It was pretty amusing.

Also, have you beat 2048 yet? ^___^

That must have been hysterical, i always misplace my things but never bother pulling a prank on anyone hahaha!

Hahahahah oh no. That is pretty funny though. :D
