Achievement Unlocked: June 2018

Achievement Unlocked: June 2018 banner

Just before writing this, I was:

Making a new banner with an updated font to match my blog design. You can see it in this post. 😄

This past month, I achieved:

  • I published my new blog design, which you should be looking at now!
  • I published an internal CSS Guide at work, which got some very good feedback. The idea behind it was to teach non-CSS developers about CSS concepts, which can be difficult to understand.
  • I went rock climbing and climbed a couple more 17s, but I also climbed a 18 and 19! I was very proud of myself after completing that 19.
  • I got my bench press weight to 32.5kg. I have to admit it’s getting difficult so I am trying not to add on the weight too quickly. I don’t want to injure myself!
  • I cleaned out my wardrobe again. This time, I had a “maybe” pile that I put anything I felt hesitation towards (but that wasn’t quite a “no”/get rid of). Then I put everything in the “maybe” pile inside a suitcase. I’m hoping to not revisit the clothes for many months. I’m already feeling a huge sense of refreshment, and I am loving everything I decided to keep. Even then, I am starting to realise that even though my selection is smaller, I still feel like it’s a lot of clothes. You really don’t need that many clothes to be satisfied.

This past month, I learned:

  • That you can buy onions frozen.
  • Doing donkey kicks with a smith machine really works your hamstrings and glutes when done properly.
  • Soon you will be able to browse websites on the Apple Watch. Meaning I will have to make sure my website is readable on my Apple Watch, haha.
  • That bacon is carcinogenic. I mean, I heard about it before, but I hadn’t really thought about it seriously until a few weeks ago.

This past month, I got bored of:

Am I allowed to say bacon?

But that’s OK, because I enjoyed:

The coconut banana smoothies at the supplement shop downstairs from our apartment! 🥥🍌

Today, something that made me happy was:

I got to catch up with Lilian today 💖

Today, something I could have done better was:

I struggled to focus at work today. So I left a little earlier and rammed out a solid walk on the treadmill. I feel like I could have made a bit more effort to finish the task I was working on. I was almost there!

Tomorrow, I’m going to:

Exchange a dress I recently bought (on sale!). I bought it in red, but I already have a red dress that I like the deeper shade of better… and today I popped into the store to discover that they had the same dress in emerald green. 😱 I asked them to hold onto it. 🙏

And I’m also going to donate a bag of clothes, which means I am clearing out space, yay!

In July, I’m looking forward to:

Nick and I are going to America! We’re flying out on Thursday morning.

In July, I’m going to make the positive change of:

We will be on holidays the whole time. I’m hoping to spend more time “being in the moment”. Nick got a new camera recently and I’m slightly, kinda, maybe, sort of, hoping to try a bit of vlogging. I tried on a short trip two months ago but I didn’t like it… it might be a bit more fun this time because Nick’s camera is quite compact and discreet.

One thing on my to-do list is:

Catch up on blog posts. And pack my suitcase for our holiday, too, of course.

One happy photo from this past month is:

I had to repost this from a previous blog post because I’m just feeling very proud about my rock climbing progress. 😄

A woman wearing blue leggings and a sports bra climbing an indoor rock climbing wall, facing the wall. She has her feet on orange holds and there are many different coloured holds on the wall, which is grey and yellow.

If I had to write a book or record a film about this past month, I would call it:

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

After I post this, I’m going to:

Go to bed (yeah, seriously, this answer never changes).

Dude, when I found frozen onions it was such a gamechanger for me! A lot of my crockpot meals during the fall/winter require onions and using frozen ones made it SO much easier!

Apple Watch – I knew it was a matter of time! This was actually my first question when it launched. Would I have to make my websites responsive for Apple Watch? Well, sort of. 👀

Congrats for achievements in your work! Frozen onions? Never heard about. It tastes bad! Didn’t know that you can freeze onions!

I can’t remember if I’ve said this already but I absolutely love your new blog theme! It’s simple and beautiful. And blue!

Haha frozen onions are the best! I hate cutting onions as they always make me cry, and we found that we were wasting a lot of onions when recipes only required half an onion. We also buy frozen peppers for this reason too.

I’m excited to follow along with your American adventures. Tyrone and I are considering heading back this summer because our visas are still in date, and the other holiday we’ve been looking at it is still too expensive.

I didn’t know bacon was a carcinogenic, but I guess my borderline pork allergy (which doesn’t make it “better” or anything) is a good thing! Haha. I stopped eating so much bacon because of it, which I started to not really like anyway, because where is the line between the flavors of grease and ham? I still enjoy it on occasion, but I prefer Canadian bacon more, if anything, even though it’s not as crispy. I have it maybe once every quarter or half year. XD

RE: Apple Watch + website browsing: that seems a bit annoying. Isn’t the screen like really tiny??

Sounds like you achieved a lot this month, Georgie! Congrats on completing a level 19 climbing wall. I always thought climbing looked really easy, until I attempted a high ropes course at my friends’ wedding last month. I couldn’t even get up the first section, it was so embarrassing!

I really need another wardrobe clear out. I must wear less than half of what’s in there, and it’s just pointless hanging on to it all. I think having less clothes isn’t a problem when you wear everything in there. I always feel like I have more choice when my wardrobe is full of a few things that fit, rather than millions that don’t.

Hope you and Nick have an amazing time in America! Can’t wait to read all about it – I love your travel posts! You guys go to such amazing places every year. Major travel goals!

It must be so lovely to look back at these posts and see how many great things you’ve done, especially on bad days. Congrats on doing so well!

Your new blog design looks amazing by the way!

OH I didn’t know that update was coming to apple watch. I got one recently, it is nice but I really don’t download too many apps for it.

Your new blog layout is lovely!!! I need to do that as well!

I LOVE THIS NEW DESIGN! I cannot believe that I’m just now seeing it properly.

As we discussed on iMessage, I’m super pumped about Watch OS 5.

Can’t wait to see/hear (on IG, Twitter, your blog, etc) about your trip to the U.S.A. Where about are you heading to? Let me know if you need any recommendations for things to do and food to try! :) I’m just an iMessage away. Most importantly, have a safe trip!

I know I should change the look of Nostalgicism, but I’m just too lazy. And once again, you have done more in a month than I’ve done in five years. Oh well. :p

Enjoy your vacation, Georgie. :)

Can’t wait to hear about your experiences in America!

Also, your mentions of rock climbing makes me so intrigued. I haven’t done that since I was a kid, but looks fun. I should find someplace to do that around here.

I hope you are having a good time on your trip at the moment. It’s great it’s all holidays and you don’t have to worry about meetings or work stuff. Speaking of work, it’s cool that you created the CSS guide and it was appreciated. :D Hahah. I knew it was a matter of time before the watch had a browser. It will be interesting to see how that is approached. I guess it would have to be totally stripped of most design (or images??) and basically text…

I really hope you’re enjoying your travels in the States! I love following your travel adventures. You and Nick are like my jet-setting goals. I love how much you guys get some traveling in each year!

Congrats on the rock climbing accomplishments! It looks like such a fun and interesting way to work out. I might think about finding a rock climbing gym when I get back home. At least it’ll help build my upper body strength a bit more (which I desperately need).

I love following your wardrobe adventures because it seems like you’re always saying “No matter how many clothes I throw/give away, I still have TOO MANY.” I’m about to go through my closet right now before I head back to America, and my plan is to give away everything in my closet back in the States. I haven’t worn or missed it in the year that I’ve been in Japan, so what’s the point in keeping it anyway?

Hey, Georgie! I am really digging the new design! It’s so pretty and user-friendly.

It’s so awesome you’re coming to America! I hope you enjoy yourself!

It would be awesome to see vlogs from you! This is a weird question, but do you think you have an Australian accent?

LOL go to bed, yeah that would be my answer at the end of most of my blog entries too. That is awesome about the rock climbing! I have never down it so I can’t imagine how difficult it is but it looks hard. :)

The new banner looks awesome. ♥
